𝐒𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐈 - 𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊

𝘚𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘪, meaning 'golden garland' was the name of the female deity who inhabited the tree where the white stupa was later built by King Dutugemunu in 140 BC enshrining the relics of Lord Buddha. He promised to name the stupa in her name as an honour for vacating the site for construction.
